1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When a parent creates an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone numbers (both the parent’s and the student’s) to provide the service.

Educational Data: To provide reminders, you must connect HeadsUp to third-party school portals (e.g., Canvas, Infinite Campus). We collect read-only access tokens, assignment names, and due dates. We do not alter grades or submit assignments.

Payment Information: All payments are processed securely through Stripe. HeadsUp does not store your full credit card number or financial details on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

To monitor connected school portals for upcoming deadlines. To send SMS text message reminders to the designated phone numbers via our communications partner, SignalWire. To manage your subscription, process payments, and provide customer support.

3. How We Share Your Information

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal or educational data. We only share information with essential third-party service providers:

• SignalWire: To deliver SMS text messages to you and your student.
• Stripe: To process your monthly/annual subscription payments securely.

4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

HeadsUp is designed to be purchased and set up by parents or legal guardians. By providing a minor’s phone number to receive text message reminders, the parent/guardian explicitly consents to our collection and use of that phone number solely for the purpose of providing the HeadsUp service.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption to protect your API tokens and personal data. You may disconnect your school portals and delete your account at any time, which will wipe your connected educational data from our active databases.

By creating an account and connecting your Canvas or Infinite Campus portals to HeadsUp, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Description of Service & Disclaimers

HeadsUp provides automated SMS reminders for school assignments.

Not a Guarantee: While we strive for accuracy, HeadsUp relies on third-party APIs (Canvas, Infinite Campus). We are not responsible for missing, delayed, or inaccurate assignment data provided by these portals.

Ultimate Responsibility: HeadsUp is an assistive tool. The student remains solely responsible for tracking, completing, and submitting their coursework. HeadsUp is not liable for poor grades, missed deadlines, or disciplinary actions.

No Affiliation: HeadsUp is an independent third-party application and is not endorsed by, directly affiliated with, or sponsored by Canvas (Instructure) or Infinite Campus.

3. SMS Messaging & TCPA Compliance (SignalWire)

By providing phone numbers for yourself and your student, you consent to receive automated text messages from HeadsUp regarding school assignments and account updates.

Message and Data Rates May Apply: You are responsible for any fees charged by your mobile carrier.

Opting Out: You or your student can cancel SMS reminders at any time by replying “STOP” to any HeadsUp text message.

4. Payments, Subscriptions, and Refunds (Stripe)

Billing: Services are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) via Stripe.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. Cancellation stops future billing, but no prorated refunds are provided for the current billing cycle.

Failed Payments: If Stripe cannot process your payment, your service and SMS reminders will be paused until the payment method is updated.

5. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for ensuring you have the legal right to connect the specific educational accounts to our platform.
